Smiling is infectious, You catch it like the flu. When someone smiled at me today, I started smiling too. I passed around the corner, and someone saw my grin. When he smiled I realized, I'd passed it to him. I thought about that smile, then I realized its worth. A single smile just like mine, could travel the earth. So, if you feel a smile begin, don't leave it undetected. Let's start an epidemic quick, and get the world infected!

Positive Thought for the day

I will be trying to put Postivities on daily. A lot of self help authors say to repeat Postivities daily and put them in the present as if it is already a reality not in the future because the subconsious mind will keep what your working toward in the future. So I will be posting Postivities that you can repeat daily

Positivity
It cannot rain on my parade today for I am walking under the umbrellas of peace, prosperity and positive people.

Give thanks for a little and you will find a lot.

You are doomed to make choices. This is life's greatest paradox.

-Wayne Dyer

You cannot be lonely if you like the person you're alone with.

-Wayne Dyer

You leave old habits behind by starting out with the thought, 'I release the need for this in my life'.

-Wayne Dyer

From the daily motivator

Bright and beautiful future
Those who preach endlessly about how bad things are, do so mainly to advance their own power and influence. Instead of being frightened into submission by the negative scenarios, choose to follow the positive possibilities. Life has always been challenging, and it will continue to be. Yet that is no reason to be gloomy or fearful, for in every challenge there is great opportunity.

Whatever you focus on will grow stronger and more influential in your world. Choose to focus on creative, innovative, loving, respectful and beautiful ways to move forward.

Those who obsess over assigning blame only end up making the problems worse. What you can do now is far more important than who is at fault.

If you give your energy to fear and hatred, whatever you fear and whatever you despise will grow bigger and more imposing. Is that really what you want?

The future is as bright and beautiful as you decide to see it. See it, live it, and make it so.

Joke

They Walk Among Us
I was at the checkout of a K-Mart. The clerk rang up $46.64 charge. I gave her a fifty dollar bill. She gave me back $46.64. I gave the money back to her and told her that she had made a mistake in MY favor. She became indignant and informed me she was educated and knew what she was doing, and returned the money again. I gave her the money back again...same scenario! I departed the store with the $46.64. This actually happened in Austin at MoPac Boulevard and Parmer Lane.

====
I walked into a Starbucks with a buy-one-get-one-free coupon for a Grande Latte. I handed it to the girl and she looked over at a little chalkboard that said "buy one-get one free."

"They're already buy-one-get-one-free," she said, "so I guess they're both free" She handed me my free lattes and I walked out the door.

Under the wagon
A farm boy accidentally overturned his wagonload of wheat on the road. The farmer that lived nearby came to investigate.

"Hey, Willis," he called out, "forget your troubles for a while and come and have dinner with us. Then I'll help you overturn the wagon."

"That's very nice of you," Willis answered, "but I don't think Dad would like me to."

"Aw, come on, son!" the farmer insisted.

"Well, OK," the boy finally agreed, "but Dad won't like it."

After a hearty dinner, Willis thanked the host. "I feel a lot better now, but I know Dad's going to be real upset."

"Don't be silly!" said the neighbor. "By the way, where is he?"

"Under the wagon," replied Willis.

When you squeeze an orange, orange juice comes out - because that's what's inside. When you are squeezed, what comes out is what is inside.

From the daily motivator

Set joy free
There is great joy within you. Yet all too often your thoughts can keep that joy hidden away. Most of the judgments to which you devote your thoughts do not serve any useful purpose. Worries, resentments, and angry thinking will bring you nothing of real value, and will push joy further away from your awareness.

Let go of those toxic thoughts and allow the joy that's hiding underneath them to shine through. Let go of the need to judge and to strive, and make room in your awareness for joy.

Joy is easy and natural and not something you must struggle for or force. It has been there all along, and will flow easily from you when you allow it.

Let your thoughts benefit from joy instead of using those thoughts to cover up that joy. Allow your actions to be more focused and effective by allowing your own unique joy to be expressed through them.

Set free the joy in your life by letting go of the negativity that you don't need anyway. Set your joy free and let it fill your world.

There They Are, Walking Among Us
I used to work in technical support for a 24/7 call center. One day I got a call from an individual who asked what hours the call center was open. I told him, "The number you dialed is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." He responded, "Is that Eastern or Pacific time?" Wanting to end the call quickly, I said, "Uh, Pacific."

When I chased after money, I never had enough. When I got my life on purpose and focused on giving of myself and everything that arrived into my life, then I was prosperous.

-Wayne Dyer

From the daily motivator

Who you think you are
What is the image you have of yourself? Who and what do you think you are? If your self-image is in conflict with your goals, the self-image will win out and the goals will fall by the wayside. Yet when your image of yourself is in agreement with your goals, those goals will be achieved in ways that seem almost effortless.

Who you think you are has a tremendous impact on the person you actually become. And fortunately, you can choose precisely who you think you are.

Others will often try to tell you who you are, but you don't need to pay any attention to them. Instead, decide to see yourself as the person you would most truly like to be.

The way you choose to see yourself exerts a steady and substantial influence on all the other choices you make. And those choices add together to build the reality of your life.

Truly see yourself as the person who can live the life you most sincerely desire to live. Who you think you are is precisely who you will come to be.

Vampire Bats
One evening two vampire bats were hanging out in their cave. One said, "Man, I'm starving! I need to get some blood!" And he flew out of the cave.

He returned about three hours later with blood dripping from his mouth.

"Where'd you get the blood?" the other bat asked.

"Well, you fly out of the cave, and you see the first tree on the left?"

"Yes," the other bat replied.

"Well, I didn't."

Question your assumptions
What assumptions have you already made about today, and why? Consider that some of those assumptions may no longer be accurate, and may very well be holding you back. It's comfortable and convenient to assume you can't do something. Yet such an assumption quickly turns into a continuing limitation that you place on yourself.

Things that were true for you many years ago may no longer have any validity. By holding on to those old assumptions, you prevent yourself from making the most of the new opportunities that come your way.

Think of how dramatically the world has changed in the last ten or twenty years. Have your assumptions about your own possibilities kept pace?

You may be carrying assumptions that were placed in your mind by people who no longer play a role in your life. Take a close look at the choices and decisions you make, at the goals and aspirations you hold, and examine the assumptions behind them.

Make it a point to regularly question your assumptions. By so doing, you're sure to find much value that you've been hiding from yourself.

Insufficient Funds
A young college co-ed came running in tears to her father. "Dad, you gave me some terrible financial advice!"

"I did? What did I tell you?" said the dad.

"You told me to put my money in that big bank, and now that big bank is in trouble."

"What are you talking about? That's one of the largest banks in the state," he said. "there must be some mistake."

"I don't think so," she sniffed. "They just returned one of my checks with a note saying, 'Insufficient Funds'."

Yeah, That'll Work
This technician's company uses satellite communications to send and receive messages from tugboats moving barges up and down major rivers. Each day, by 2 p.m., the tugboats send data on the day's activities to the company's traffic department.

At least that's how it's supposed to work.

"I got a call from our traffic department saying they only got data from about half the boats, and would I check on it?" technician says.

He calls the satellite company, but the technician there says there's no problem on his end.

Meanwhile, the traffic department calls again -- they're still not getting messages from the missing boats.

"So I called the boats and got them to re-send the messages, and they came through," says our tech. "The problem apparently cleared itself up."

But he isn't quite satisfied. "I called the satellite company back to see what happened, and what we could do if the problem recurred."

Satellite company's technician doesn't know what happened and doesn't have any way of finding out. "In order to track the messages, we would need an identification number from the message," he tells our tech.

We could find out those numbers eventually, he figures.

"Also, the identification numbers are recycled every half hour," tech continues.

"So I need to get you the identification number within that time?" he asks.

"Right", says the satellite tech.

"So to summarize," says our tech glumly, "we need to give you the identification numbers of the messages we haven't received, within half an hour of not receiving them?"

Challenge to move forward
Without challenge, there would be no achievement. If you wish to own the achievement, you must be willing to shoulder the challenge. Working through a difficult challenge builds strength. It is a kind of strength that cannot be acquired in any other way.

Challenges are messy, uncomfortable, complicated and demanding. And yet, they are among life's greatest blessings.

For the challenges will make it perfectly clear what has real meaning in your life and what doesn't. The challenges hold your priorities up to you and will show you the best of who you are.

Climbing the mountain of challenge is difficult and treacherous, yet the view from the summit is spectacular. And the experience you gain in the effort will continue to bring value long after the work is done.

You are truly fortunate to have challenges in your life. For within every challenge is a clearly defined path for moving vigorously and meaningfully forward.

From the daily motivator

Take the energy
Do not continue to provide more energy to your fears. Instead, take the energy from your fears and turn it toward positive purpose. There is nothing to be gained by giving additional energy to your anger. Take the energy from your anger, and direct it toward creative, fulfilling action.

Whatever you focus upon, whether it is positive or negative, you provide with additional energy. Whether you love it or hate it, whether you long for it or fear it, your focus and attention will make it more powerful in your life.

There can be large amounts of energy in your fears, your angers, and your frustrations. The thing to do with all that negative energy is not to add to it, but to apply it toward your most positive purposes and most treasured desires.

If you truly wish to avoid something, be careful not to nourish it with your focus and your energy. Find something else to move toward, and keep that positive goal at the center of your awareness.

In each moment, you can choose where to focus your attention and your energy. Seek to keep your focus as positive as possible, and you'll move steadily in the direction of your dreams.

Stand out
Instead of making promises, deliver value. Instead of fighting for the chance to receive discarded scraps, work diligently to freely give big buckets of nourishing substance. Rather than growing hoarse from shouting, grow wise from listening. When those around you are tripping all over their own arrogance and self-importance, have the confidence to live with genuine humility.

Those who so desperately and endlessly brag about themselves quickly fade into a meaningless blur. Those who quietly and consistently perform are the ones who soon stand out from the crowd.

If you assume that people are stupid, and look upon them with disrespect, they will look at you in exactly the same way. When you seek to take advantage of others, you become ridiculously easy prey for those who will certainly take advantage of you.

The way to stand out is not by pushing others back. The way to stand out is by generously and sincerely leading others forward.

Expect the best of others, and respectfully give the best that you have. Choose to stand out, away from the pettiness and shortsighted greed, and you'll find a truly magnificent life.

Seeds of imagination
Your imagination may often seem wispy and nebulous. It is in fact very real and powerful. Look around you and consider all the real, solid, useful and valuable things that began their existence in someone's imagination. What you can imagine, is clearly possible.

Most likely, your imagination has far more power than you realize. There are aspects of your reality today that come directly from long-forgotten stirrings of your imagination.

What would you dare to imagine if you were certain that it would become real? In fact, most of what you imagine does indeed influence your life and your world in some way or other.

Obviously, the things you imagine do not instantly spring into material form. Actually, something even more amazing happens.

Your imagination plants a fertile seed in the capable, creative, intelligent, effective person that is you. Take great care with such seeds that you plant, for they will surely grow.

That's Not It
A general noticed one of his soldiers behaving oddly. The soldier would pick up any piece of paper he found, frown and say, "That's not it" and put it down again.

A positive way
How do you keep yourself positive when the people around you are so negative? How can you maintain a positive approach when the situations and events around you are so troublesome? A sincerely positive attitude is not a reaction to the way things are. Rather, it is an expression of the way you choose for things to be.

Being positive is not an unrealistic or naive view of a negative world. It provides you with a solid foundation for making real improvements in the world and creating meaningful value.

Being positively focused enables you to see, and to make the most of, opportunities that would otherwise be invisible. Being positive gives you the energy to move forward no matter what the obstacles may be.

When you focus on the positive aspects of a situation, there will be plenty of people who disagree with you. But that is their problem, not yours.

Look beyond those who argue for defeat, and find the path to victory. Whatever the current situation may be, you can always choose a positive way forward.

Joke

Lawyer, Doctor and Clergyman
A dying man gathered his Lawyer, Doctor and Clergyman at his bed side and handed each of them an envelope containing $25,000 in cash. He made them each promise that after his death and during his repose, they would place the three envelopes in his coffin. He told them that he wanted to have enough money to enjoy the next life.

A week later the man died. At the Wake, the Lawyer and Doctor and Clergyman, each concealed an envelope in the coffin and bid their old client and friend farewell. By chance, these three met several months later. Soon the Clergyman, feeling guilty, blurted out a confession saying that there was only $10,000 in the envelope he placed in the coffin. He felt, rather than waste all the money, he would send it to a Mission in South America. He asked for their forgiveness. The Doctor, moved by the gentle Clergymans sincerity, confessed that he too had kept some of the money for a worthy medical charity. The envelope, he admitted, had only $8000 in it. He said, he too could not bring himself to waste the money so frivolously when it could be used to benefit others.

By this time the Lawyer was seething with self-righteous outrage. He expressed his deep disappointment in the felonious behavior of two of his oldest and most trusted friends. "I am the only one who kept his promise to our dying friend. I want you both to know that the envelope I placed in the coffin contained the full amount. Indeed, my envelope contained my personal check for the entire $25,000."

The Coma
The woman's husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several months, yet she had stayed by his bedside every single day.

One day, when he came to, he motioned for her to come nearer. As she sat by him, he whispered, eyes full of tears, "You know what? You have been with me all through the bad times.

"When I got fired, you were there to support me."

"When my business failed, you were there."

"When I got shot, you were by my side."

"When we lost the house, you stayed right here."

When my health started failing, you were still by my side. You know what?"

"What dear?" She gently asked, smiling as her heart began to fill with warmth.

"I think you're bad luck."

Habit of success
What you do consistently and repeatedly grows stronger. And that provides you with nearly unlimited opportunity. Success is not a secret that is hidden from you. Success is a habit that is readily available to you.

Life is made up of moment after moment. Point all those moments in the same direction, and truly magnificent achievements will come about.

There are very few things of value that you can create instantly. Yet when you expand your horizon to a few weeks or months, the possibilities for achievement increase dramatically.

The hours and the days will pass whether you make use of them or not. Choose to focus your energy in a specific direction, again and again, and put the power of time to work for you.

Keep your thoughts, your words and your actions pointed in the direction you would most like to go. Develop the habit of success, and with it you can create whatever you choose.

What's for Dinner?
I have my changed my system for labeling homemade freezer meals. I used to carefully note in large clear letters, "Meatloaf" or "Pot Roast" or "Steak and Vegetables or "Chicken and Dumplings" or "Beef Pot Pie."

However, I used to get frustrated when I asked my husband what he wanted for dinner because he never asked for any of those things. So, I decided to stock the freezer with what he really likes.

If you look in my freezer now you'll see a whole new set of labels. You'll find dinners with neat little tags that say: "Whatever," "Anything," "I Don't Know," "I Don't Care," "Something Good," or "Food." My frustration is now reduced because no matter what my husband replies when I ask him what he wants for dinner, I know that it is there waiting. The

Toaster Oven
One of my daughter's wedding presents was a toaster oven. Soon after the honeymoon, she and her husband tried it out. Almost immediately, smoke billowed out of the toaster. "Get the owner's manual!" her husband shouted.

"I can't find it anywhere!" she cried, searching through the box.

"Oops!" came a voice from the kitchen. "Well, the toast is fine, but the owner's manual is burnt to a crisp."

Ticket, Please!
Five Englishmen boarded a train just behind five Scots, who, as a group had only purchased one ticket. Just before the conductor came through, all the Scots piled into the toilet stall at the back of the car. As the conductor passed the stall, he knocked and called "Tickets, please!" and one of the Scots slid a ticket under the door. It was punched, pushed back under the door, and when it was safe all the Scots came out and took their seats. The Englishmen were tremendously impressed by the Scots' ingenuity.

On the trip back, the five Englishmen decided to try this themselves and purchased only one ticket. They noticed that, oddly, the Scots had not purchased any tickets this time. Anyway, again, just before the conductor came through, the Scots piled into one of the toilet stalls, the Englishmen into the other. Then one of the Scots leaned out, knocked on the Englishmen's stall and called "Ticket, Please!" When the ticket slid out under the door, he picked it up and quickly closed the door.

Useless in the Parking Lot
A woman was at work when she received a phone call that her daughter was very sick with a fever. She left her work and stopped by the pharmacy to get some medication for her daughter.

When returning to her car she found that she had locked herkeys in the car. She was in a hurry to get home to her sick daughter.

She didn't know what to do, so she called her home and told the baby sitter what had happened and that she did not know what to do. The baby sitter told her that her daughter was getting worse.

She said, "You might find a coat hanger and use that to open the door.

"The woman looked around and found an old rusty coat hanger that had been thrown down on the ground, possibly by someone else who at some time or other had locked their keys in their car.

Then she looked at the hanger and said, "I don't know how to use this." So she bowed her head and asked God to send her some help. Within five minutes an old rusty car pulled up, with a dirty, greasy, bearded man who was wearing an old biker skull rag on his head.

The woman thought, "This is what you sent to help me?" But, she was desperate, so she was also very thankful.

The man got out of his car and asked her if he could help. She said, "Yes, my daughter is very sick. I stopped to get her some medication and I locked my keys in my car. I must get home to her. Please, can you use this hanger to unlock my car?"

He said, "Sure". He walked over to the car, and in less than one minute the car was opened.

She hugged the man and through her tears she said, "Thank you so much! You are a very nice man."

The man replied, "Lady, I am not a nice man. I just got out of prison today. I was in prison for car theft and have only been out for about an hour.

"The woman hugged the man again and with sobbing tears cried out loud, "Oh, Thank you God!"

You even sent me a Professional!"

Rise above frustration
Put your frustrations in perspective, and most of them will disappear. Refuse to get caught up in them, and those frustrations will have no power over you. Small inconveniences and minor disappointments can lead to major disruptions if you let them. But you don't have to let them.

When you feel frustration starting to overwhelm you, choose to step back a little bit. Sure, the situation may be absurd and outrageous, but is it really all that important?

Your ego likes to make you blow the little things far out of proportion, because it's an easy way to feel important. Yet it can also be an enormous waste of your time and energy, not to mention the negative impact it has on your attitude.

As much as possible, give the frustrations some distance. Get away from them to a place where you can calmly think through your options, and you'll find that there's almost never any need to be frustrated.

Rise above the pettiness of wasteful frustrations, with a smile on your face and generosity in your heart. And you'll be able to clearly see a fast, effective, fulfilling way forward.

Bumpers

The little lad refused to budge, and all her efforts were unavailing. The department manager also tried to coax the little fellow without meeting with any success.

Eventually, in desperation they called the store's psychiatrist. Gently he walked over and whispered a few words in the boy's ear, and immediately the lad jumped off and ran to his mother's side.

"How did you do it?" the mother asked incredibly. "What did you say to him?"

The psychiatrist hesitated for a moment, then said, "All I said was, `If you don't jump off that rocking horse at once, son, I'll knock the stuffing out of you!'"

A beautiful day
Would you like for this day to be a beautiful day? There is so much you can do to make it so. Instead of being obsessed with getting your way, focus on giving your best. That is what will bring real value to both you and your world.

When you feel the need to prove that you are right, stop and redirect the energy of that feeling. Put it into expressing your authentic purpose in a sincere and positive way.

Realize that there are many things that annoy and frustrate you only because you allow them to do so. You can just as easily choose to not let them get to you, and put your time to more productive use.

What would you do today if you did not have to be concerned about getting your way? What would you do today if you didn't need to worry about what others were thinking of you?

Now is the only time you'll have the opportunity to experience this day. With your attitude and your actions, choose to make it a beautiful and valuable experience.

Cat fight occurs outside the zoo
ST. PAUL, Minn. (UPI) -- Two women got into a physical fight over a parking space in a crowded lot at a Minnesota zoo.

The problem started Sunday afternoon when a 22-year-old Scandia woman and her friend spied a spot someone was leaving at the Como Zoo in St. Paul. Although a minivan was queued up to take the spot, the woman got out and stood in the space to reserve it until her friend could park there.

While the woman was standing there, the minivan driver moved closer, threatening to run her down, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported Tuesday. When she stood her ground, a woman passenger allegedly got out of the minivan and attacked the woman, allegedly shoving, punching and scratching her, as well as ripping her shirt.

The minivan driver separated the two and they took off, police said.

Tom Walsh, a spokesman for St. Paul police, said both women have important lessons to learn, like waiting your turn and not behaving badly because someone else has. As it turned out, the first woman's provocative behavior was for nothing, since her friend found another space while she was standing there.

Late for work
Late for work already, I was annoyed to find a strange car in my reserved parking space again. After locating a spot far away, I stormed into my office determined, to have the car towed. As the morning wore on, however, my anger cooled, and I decided to give the driver another chance.

During lunchtime, I went outside and left this note on the driver's windshield:

"Please don't take my parking space. If you do, and your car disappears, don't say I never towed you!"

Shine a light
Even if the amount of goodness that you can see is tiny, focus on that goodness. Focus on it, and it will grow. When the positive possibilities seem terribly overwhelmed by the negative influences, give your attention to those positive possibilities. And you will give them real power.

When everything has gone wrong, the smallest positive step can make a world of difference. And once a positive momentum is established, you can continue to build upon it.

Even though it may seem that all hope is lost, one person with a positive purpose has the power to begin turning things around. Once that happens, others will gratefully join in.

Whatever the situation may be, choose to shine a positive light that those around you can see. And the more it is seen, the brighter it will become.

As a new school principal, Mr. Mitchell was checking over his school on the first day. Passing the stockroom, he was startled to see the door wide open and teachers bustling in and out, carrying off books and supplies in preparation for the arrival of students the next day. Cautiously, he asked the school's long time Custodian, "Do you think it's wise to keep the stock room unlocked and to let the teachers take things without requisitions?"

The Custodian looked at him gravely... "We trust them with the children, don't we?"

St. Peter addressed the teacher and asked, "What was the name of the ship that crashed into the iceberg? They just made a movie about it."

The teacher answered quickly, "That would be the Titanic." St.Peter let him through the gate.

St. Peter turned to the garbage man and, figuring Heaven didn't REALLY need all the odors that this guy would bring with him, decided to make the question a little harder: "How many people died on the ship?"

Fortunately for him, the trash man had just seen the movie, and answered, "1,228."

"That's right! You may enter."

St. Peter then turned to the lawyer. "Name them."

Flight Engineer in Panama
As a flight engineer, I had been stationed in Panama for several months before the December 1989 invasion. Ever since I began my air force flying career, my mother has been concerned about my safety. So I expected a long letter from her expressing her anxiety.

But what she sent was a sheet of paper containing six words: KICK THEIRS. PROTECT YOURS. LOVE, MOM.

Positivity
I make a difference with everything I do for I see the opportunity in every challenge.

Raise your expectations
It can be tempting to lower your expectations when things are not going your way. Yet the most realistic response is not to lower your expectations, but in fact to raise them higher. It may seem that lowering your expectations so they're more in line with your reality would protect you from disappointment. Yet lowering your expectations is sure to bring on even more disappointment.

If you're disappointed with the results you're getting, it's not because your expectations are too high. It's because those expectations are not high enough to pull you forward.

Raise your expectations to the point where they become so meaningful and compelling that you cannot help but fulfill them. Choose those expectations that will drive you in each moment to do what must be done to reach them.

When the going gets rough, the answer is not to give up on your dreams. The answer is to grab on to those dreams, and to put them front and center in your life.

Set your expectations high, connect solidly and consistently with them, and those expectations will give a positive, effective direction to your life. Expect the very best, and let those expectations drive you to live out your most cherished dreams.

Money for the Preacher
After the church service a little boy told the pastor, "When I grow up, I'm going to give you some money."

"Well, thank you," the pastor replied, "but why?"

"Because my daddy says you're one of the poorest preachers we've ever had."

A man walks into a shoe store, and tries on a pair of shoes.

"How do they feel?" asks the sales clerk.

"Well, they feel a bit tight." replies the man.

The assistant promptly bends down and has a look at the shoes and the mans feet.

"Try pulling out on the tongue." offers the clerk.

"Nath theyth sthill feelth a bith tighth." He says.

A magical place
The world is a magical place. Just because you have grown accustomed to the magic does not make it any less so. Look out in any direction, and think about what you see. You see life, you see beauty, you see possibilities, you see fulfillment, you see all these magical things happening.

You've gotten used to what you know and to what you can do. Remember, though, that you can experience so very much more.

You have the ability to imagine, and then to take whatever you imagine and make it real. What could possibly be more magical than that?

Everything you now know has been put in place by that same sort of magic. Whatever you would like to know and to experience is waiting for you to make it so.

This moment is your opportunity to work your own special magic. Imagine the very best, and then through the magic of your life you can make it so.

Joke

One Way Trip to Mars
NASA was interviewing professionals they were thinking of sending to Mars. The touchy part was that only one guy could go and it would be a one-way trip, the guy not ever returning to Earth.

The interviewer asked the first applicant, an engineer, how much he wanted to be paid for going. "One million dollars," the engineer answered. "And I want to donate it all to my alma mater--Rice University."

The next applicant was a doctor, and the interviewer asked him the same question. Two millions dollars, the doctor said. "I want to give a million to my family and leave the other million for the advancement of medical research."

The last applicant was a lawyer. When asked how much money he wanted, he whispered in the interviewer's ear, "Three million dollars."

"Why so much more than the others?" the interviewer asked.

The lawyer replied, "You give me three million, I'll give you one million, I'll keep a million, and we'll send the engineer."

Beautiful new beginning
Never before has life held as much promise as it does on this very day. The possibilities open to you right now are more wonderful and abundant than they have ever been. You may be suffering under the sad illusion that the best days of your life have already come and gone. Choose now to see beyond that self-imposed limiting thought.

Open your eyes to the beautiful truth that the things in your life with real value and meaning never decline or decay. The longer you live with purpose and sincerity, the more intensely you experience true love and joy.

It may seem that your mistakes have been piled on top of mistakes, and that nothing can free you from your burdensome regrets. Yet the freedom you seek is as close as the next moment.

Every beauty you've ever imagined is real, and exists in you right now. Every joy that you've ever glimpsed is yours to live and to express any time you choose.

You stand in this moment at a beautiful new beginning, full of promise and possibility. See it, know it, live it, and allow the joy to flow more abundantly than ever before.

Queen Size
A little boy went to the store with his grandmother and on the way home, he was looking at the things she had purchased.

He then turned to his grandmother and exclaimed,

Flower Switch
A new business was opening, and one of the owner's friends wanted to send him flowers for the occasion. They arrived at the new business site, and the owner read the card, which said, "Rest in Peace."

The owner was angry and called the florist to complain.

After he told the florist of the obvious mistake and how angry he was, the florist replied, "Sir, I'm really sorry for the mistake, but rather than getting angry, you should imagine this: Somewhere there is a funeral taking place, and they have flowers with a note saying, 'Congratulations on your new location.'"

Who's going to stop me?
Six year old Angie, and her four-year old brother, Joel, were sitting together in church. Joel giggled, sang and talked out loud. Finally, his big sister had had enough. "You're not suppose to talk out loud in church."

"Why? Who's going to stop me?" Joel asked.

Angie pointed to the back of the church and said, "See those two men standing by the door? They're hushers."

The authentic you
Life's most beautiful and fulfilling moments are the most sincere and authentic ones. When you are being yourself, that is when you are at your best. Why do you so quickly latch on to someone else's idea of success, while at the same time ignoring your own authentic dreams? Why do you so easily dismiss your own instincts and intuitions?

Others may claim to be experts in this field or that. Remember, though, that you are the expert when it comes to your own life.

Listen to the longings of your heart. Pay attention to that little voice inside of you.

For that voice knows you well. It knows what you can accomplish, what brings you joy, and what things you most highly value.

When something feels right, that's a reliable sign that it is. Choose to live each moment as the authentic person you are, and from those moments you will create much real and lasting richness.

Stepping back
Imagine that you can a step back from yourself, far enough back to get a good, objective look at the way you are. What do you think you would see? You already know what it's like to be you from the inside. Think for a moment how it would be to encounter you from the outside.

Consider how your words, your actions and your priorities look when viewed objectively. Think of the advice you would want to give if you were to observe yourself for a while from the outside.

Stand back and watch the way you spend your time. Look closely at what really works for you, and at what really doesn't.

Though it is unwise to become obsessed with what others think of you, it is smart to regularly consider your life from an objective viewpoint. It can give you a new appreciation for your strengths and will help to point out areas where you can make valuable improvements.

In your imagination, every now and then, take a step back, and then take a good look. See yourself with objective eyes, and discover new ways to make life better and better.

Good News and Bad News
An old man visits his doctor and after thorough examination the doctor tells him: "I have good news and bad news, what would you like to hear first?"

Patient: "Well, let me have the bad news first."

Doctor: "You have cancer, I estimate that you have about two years left."

Patient: "Oh no! That's just awful! In two years my life will be over! What kind of good news could you probably tell me, after this?"

Doctor: "You also have Alzheimer's. In about three months you are going to forget everything I told you."

Info from the Doctor
A little old woman called Mount Sinai Hospital. She said, "Mount Sinai Hospital? Hello. Darling, I'd like to talk with the person who gives the information about the patients. But I don't want to know if the patient is better or doing like expected, or worse, I want all the information from top to bottom, from A to Z."

The voice on the other end of the line said, "Would you hold the line, please, that's a very unusual request?"

Then a very authoritative voice came on and said, "Are you the lady who is calling about one of the patients?"

She said, "Yes, darling! I'd like to know the information about Sarah Finkel, in room 302."

He said, "Finkel. Finkel. Let me see. Feinberg, Farber - Finkel. Oh yes, Mrs. Finkel is doing very well. In fact, she's had two full meals, her doctor says if she continues improving as she is, he is going to send her home Tuesday at twelve o'clock."

The woman said, "Thank God! That's wonderful! She's going home at twelve o'clock! I'm so happy to hear that. That's wonderful news."

The guy on the other end said, "From your enthusiasm, I take it you must be one of the close family?"

She said, "What close family? I'm Sarah Finkel! My doctor don't tell me nothing!"

Focus on abundance
Choose to let your troubles remind you of your blessings. Challenge yourself to focus your attention on the positive influences and possibilities in your life. No matter how difficult the situation, that difficulty will always be outweighed by the goodness to which you are connected. Each and every good thing in your life that you call to mind will help to melt away the anxiety and strengthen your sense of peaceful purpose.

When troubles come along, respond by making a mental list of the good things in your life. You'll quickly realize that they are far too numerous to ever completely count.

Turn your attention to the things of real value with which you are blessed. It will illuminate new possibilities and inject positive energy into your efforts.

Thinking of one thing for which you can be thankful leads you right to another, and another, and yet another. That kind of thinking will point you out of the darkness and into the light.

Focus on the real abundance in your life. And your loving attention will make that abundance grow.

Joke

We could have been here sooner
An elderly couple were killed in an accident and found themselves being given a tour of heaven by Saint Peter. "Here is your oceanside condo, over there are the tennis courts, swimming pool, and two golf courses. If you need any refreshments, just stop by any of the many bars located throughout the area." "Heck, Gloria," the old man hissed when Saint Peter walked off, "we could have been here ten years ago if you hadn't heard about all that stupid oat bran, wheat germ, and low-fat diets!"

Magnificent treasure
They wait patiently in the back of your mind, gently reminding you from time to time of their presence. Each time they come to the surface, you feel a tinge of longing and wonder and excitement. You consider them for a moment, and then you usually push them back away from your awareness. Something, seemingly more urgent, comes along.

Yet they never completely go away. Because there is something in them that tells you about who you are.

What are they? They're the best of your unexplored possibilities.

You hold on to them, keep them buried away, and cherish them deeply in your own way. Maybe now, though, maybe it is time to begin giving life to them.

The next time one of those unexplored possibilities reminds you of itself, do more than just putting it back away. For in the best of those unexplored possibilities, there is magnificent treasure to be found.

Idiots In The Neighborhood
I live in a semi-rural area. We recently had a new neighbor call the local township administrative office to request the removal of the Deer Crossing sign on our road. The reason: too many deer were being hit by cars and he didn't want them to cross there anymore.
